Young SA entrepreneur opens brand new Barossa distillery • Glam Adelaide

On the plains of the lush Barossa Valley, there is a small rural area with a population of only 88, known as Vine Vale. This charming sub-region is now home to the Edinburgh Distillery, founded by 21-year-old Caitlin Curtis, which officially opened in June this year.

The Edinburgh team aim to source a lot locally, which applies to their Shiraz grapes which are grown on the same site as the distillery. Combining his obvious creativity and determined entrepreneurial spirit, Curtis dreams of making his business a staple in every bar.

In July 2022, the company launched four alcoholic products, available for purchase on their website.

The Barossa Valley Shiraz Gin is definitely a crowd favourite. Distilled at their award-winning single vineyard and enriched with hand-picked fruit, this brings out the gorgeous deep color and sweet taste. It is recommended to add ice to this tasty drink, or a slice of orange for the ultimate taste experience.

Or, sip the butterfly pea flower gin La Tibelle – I’m already sold! Infused with Clitoria Ternatea flowers, this gin has botanical notes, as well as citrus and earthy flavors.

The light blue liquid is divine, but when acidity or carbonation are combined (i.e. your choice of blender) you’ll see the colors change from blue to purple to pink or somewhere in between.

If gin isn’t your favorite spirit, black vodka is the one you might enjoy. It’s delicious in a Negroni, with lemon tonic, or simply on its own. Unlike traditional vodka, this version has a smooth, fruity flavor – and the label glows in the dark, which we think is pretty cool.

Indulge yourself and your taste buds with new spirits from the Edinburgh Distillery. We love supporting local businesses and we invite you to do the same!
