A Halifax wine bar and cafe described as a “hidden gem” serving “fabulous” food has been named one of the nation’s top independent restaurants.
Pride & Provenance in the Piece Mill building in Halifax serves all kinds of food and drink, including grilled sandwiches.
The restaurant has splendid TripAdvisor reviews which have earned it a place in the “15 of the UK’s best independent restaurants you’ve probably never heard of”.

Customers were also delighted with the fantastic selection of toasted sandwiches with exotic names such as The Bikini, The Italian Stallion and The HOT One.
Ingredients can include Lishman’s chorizo (from butcher Ilkley), air-cured ham, mozzarella, and a variety of cheeses.
They are served on white sourdough bread and accompanied by natural Yorkshire sea salt crisps and mixed herb olives.
Pride & Provenance was started in 2018 by James and Melanie Thompson, the Yorkshire-born husband and wife team.
Pride & Provenance is a cafe, wine bar and restaurant located in the Piece Mill building in Halifax, just outside the south door of Piece Hall in Halifax.
Melanie said, “We take tremendous pride in everything we do, from sourcing the best growers and suppliers to providing great service in a beautiful setting.
“When it comes to provenance, we are passionate about where our products come from and we ensure clear traceability from farm to fork. We believe that our confidence in these values ensures a great experience for our customers.”
