Tork, a proud member of Private Patient Safety Organizations (POPs), shares business insights on World Hand Hygiene Day to help healthcare organizations and workers unite for safety patients.
PHILADELPHIA CREAM, April 26, 2022 /CNW/ – Tork, an Essity brand, is calling on healthcare organizations around the world to build institutional safety this World Hand Hygiene Day (WHHD) by encouraging the development of hand hygiene models. hand hygiene and safer environments for patients. By sharing innovative tools and best practices, Tork reminds all healthcare professionals to unite for safety by ensuring clean and hygienic hands.
World Hand Hygiene Day, celebrated on May 5, is the World Health Organization’s (WHO) annual call to action for healthcare workers. This year’s theme focuses on the fifth component of WHO’s multimodal strategy for hand hygiene compliance, creating a climate of institutional safety, or an organizational environment that prioritizes high compliance. hand hygiene to ensure the safety of patients and healthcare professionals at institutional and individual levels.
A well-trained and motivated health workforce is essential to create a climate of institutional security and reduce hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). In fact, studies show that good hand hygiene prevents up to 50% of infections acquired while providing healthcare.1 Additionally, a study commissioned by Tork found that 8 out of 10 healthcare professionals would like to improve their hand hygiene compliance.2
To support these healthcare professionals and enable safer care environments, Tork has developed its Clean Hands training in collaboration with behavioral scientists and global hand hygiene experts. Tork VR Clean Hands training invites users into a digital world where they can interact and practice the WHO “5 Moments of Hand Hygiene” in a realistic environment. Viewed nearly 15,000 times since the end of 2019, Tork Clean Hands training enables healthcare professionals to achieve the highest safety standards.
Beyond training alone, healthcare professionals need to perform hand hygiene often and effectively to prevent the spread of infections and reduce cross-contamination. Tork supports healthcare organizations with skincare designed for critical, fast-paced environments, including Tork Alcohol Hand Sanitizer. Tork also offers evidence-based dispenser placement guides based on the WHO’s “My 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene” and built around four areas commonly encountered in healthcare settings to drive compliance. Research shows that hand hygiene dispensers have a significant impact on compliance rates, and the key to success is ensuring they are placed correctly.3
“Good hand hygiene saves lives, and it is the collective responsibility of all healthcare stakeholders worldwide to maintain these standards. Fostering an institutional culture of safety within your healthcare organization keeps the hand hygiene in the foreground,” says Thomas BerginMarketing Director – Healthcare, Essity Professional Hygiene, “At the heart of the Tork brand, we offer the products and services that help facilities achieve an institutionally safe climate, and we continue to work tirelessly to be a competent and reliable partner for all health professionals.
