Although it may seem a bit early to think about Valentine’s Day, since the turkey has which has yet to be sculpted for Thanksgiving, the Island Montessori Family School Association is hosting a fundraiser next February that gives people a makeover for prom.

The Second Chance Ball will benefit Island Montessori School and Skywatch Bird Rescue. Tickets are on sale until December 23 for $75 per person and will increase to $85 per person by January 1, 2023.

Tickets will feature light appetizers, an open beer and wine bar, with spirit cocktails available for purchase. Guests are invited to wear their best prom attire for photos by Matthew Craviotto Photography; digital photos will be provided free of charge, although 4×6 photos are available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the two non-profit organizations. A DJ will spin tunes to keep attendees dancing the night away.

The event will take place Saturday, February 18, at 7 p.m. at the Ironclad Brewery (115 N. 2nd St.), a renovated two-story building, built in 1925.

Island Montessori School is a private preschool and public charter elementary school (K-8) – the only one in New Hanover that offers free public Montessori education.

Skywatch Bird Rescue focuses on rehabilitating injured wild birds in and around Wilmington and southeastern North Carolina. It also commits to the education, promotion, preservation and conservation of birds and their habitats.
