Soul & Smoke opens walk-in restaurant in Chicago


soul and smoke, purveyors of some of Chicago’s best barbecue and comfort food, announced the opening of their walk-in restaurant in Rockwell on the River on Wednesday, June 29. Soul & Smoke’s Avondale ghost kitchen will move to this location, making it the first food vendor in Rockwell on the River. The space will be a counter-order concept with indoor and outdoor seating available.

Soul & Smoke’s Rockwell on the River location will serve Executive Chef D’Andre Carter’s famous slow-roasted smoked meats, including beef brisket, short ribs, pulled pork and delicious sides of their mac and cheese signature, green cabbage and homemade pickles. , as well as their bespoke Beer for The Soul through a partnership with Sketchbook Brewery. Soul & Smoke is looking forward to being the first barbecue restaurant to be introduced in Rockwell on the River.

With this move, all previous Avondale Ghost Kitchen services, including pickup, delivery and catering options, will continue to be available in Rockwell on the River beginning June 29. The Soul & Smoke team is looking forward to meeting neighborhood customers face-to-face at the new location after serving them meals for over a year in the former ghost kitchen.

Soul & Smoke launched its first take-out location in Evanston in 2020 and has grown exponentially since its inception. With a current home at Time Out Market, a retail barbecue sauce line in all 44 Mariano grocery stores with plans for regional expansion, and a food truck that travels around town, Soul & Smoke is excited to take the next step in its business by opening up this space, with the potential for expansion in the footprint.

Soul & Smoke at Rockwell on the River will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Indoor and outdoor seating will be available on site, with various stadium seats located along the river.
