KARACHI: A restaurant worker was shot dead by armed thieves in northern Nazimabad on Saturday afternoon, police said.
They added that Ali Raheel, 35, was killed at the Pakistan Pakwan House in Block-H.
Hyderi Market SHO Imran Mehmood said four thieves driving two motorcycles arrived at the restaurant around 1:30 p.m. They snatched three cell phones and money from the people there.
He said Raheel had not put up any resistance. Despite this, armed robbers shot him from a distance of about 35 feet as he left the scene.
He was shot in the head and was first taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, which sent him to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, where medics said he was brought dead upon arrival.
“Missing” jeweler found dead
The body of a “missing” jeweler was found on the outskirts of town on Saturday near the cattle market off the Superhighway, officials said.
Sachal SHO Shafiq Rehman said the body of Awais Hameed, 35, was found in a car parked in the parking lot of the cattle market. Apparently there was no sign of injury to the body. A bottle of alcohol was also found in the vehicle.
He said the man allegedly disappeared from Baghdadi neighborhood in Lyari and that a team from the relevant police station also joined the investigation.
The body was taken to hospital to determine the exact cause of his death.
Baghdadi SHO Abdul Ghaffar Shah said he owned a jewelry store in Saddar and left the store on Friday with jewelry. He told his cousin that he was going to Defense. The family filed a disappearance report at the Preedy police station.
