When it comes to dining at Walt Disney World Resort, there are hundreds of delicious options. From Mexican to French to American, there’s something for everyone for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Disney World’s four theme parks and Disney Springs aren’t the only places to find a great meal if your stomach is rumbling. Some of the best restaurants on the property are at the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, but one will close indefinitely in just a few months.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a luxury hotel that brings the island vibe of the South Pacific to Central Florida. It’s located right next to the Magic Kingdom, so it’s a great place to stay for families who want to be in the heart of the magic. Not only are the rooms and grounds lush and beautiful, but Polynesian Village has some truly exceptional restaurants. One of them is the Kona Café, located on the second floor of the Grand Ceremonial House and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Kona Café is widely known to customers for its amazing breakfast options like Tonga Toast – a large slice of sourdough bread stuffed with bananas – and pineapple macadamia nut pancakes. For lunch and dinner, guests love to indulge in dishes like the Spicy Tuna Roll, Kona Braised Short Rib, and Pork Belly Noodle Bowl. Unfortunately, a number of these items will no longer be available from August 15th.
Guests looking for more information about Kona Café on the Walt Disney World site you will now see the following message:
Starting August 15, 2022, the Kona Cafe will be closed for renovations. During this time, Guests can continue to use the mobile ordering service through the My Disney Experience app to order select breakfasts, lunches and dinners on Kona Island.
Kona Island is located right next to the Kona Café and traditionally serves coffee and pastries in the morning and sushi to go the rest of the day. At this time, we do not know which Kona Café menu items will be available on Kona Island. Disney also hasn’t shared how long the restaurant will be closed, so at this time the closure is indefinite.
Guests can continue to visit the Walt Disney World website or My Disney Experience app to make reservations at Kona Café until its August 15 closing date.
