Popular CBD restaurant, Cafe Luna is reborn as The Butterfly Table under new ownership • Glam Adelaide

A childhood dream has come true for a new cafe owner in Adelaide’s CBD.

Experienced worker in hospitality and pastry, Annie Montgomery took over Cafe Luna rename the popular restaurant, Butterfly painting.

Annie said the name was sentimental as it was named after a tattoo she had.

“The tattoo depicts three butterflies taking flight and her three stages of situations, so it’s more personal in that it relates to new beginnings.

“I’ve always wanted to have a coffee since I was little and living my dream of picking up the coffee and going from there is one of them.”

The cafe which opened in early 2021 was previously owned by lifelong friends Olga Baranova and Marina Tazhdynova, but when they decided to move on, Annie was happy to take over the reins.

Annie officially took over on October 26 after being shut down intermittently for about six months.

With a self-proclaimed love for the hospitality industry, Annie has worked in the industry for nearly 20 years and said she was excited for this new challenge.

For the past five years she has had her own catering business called Blue Velvet Cakes by Cheeky Taste Catering which consisted of making pasture cakes and tables.

Annie said she had big plans for Butterfly painting and the good news for those with a sweet tooth, it might be right up your alley.

“Future plans are to make it a restaurant by day and a function venue or bar with food at night where people can go before shows or football.

“I will also be offering cakes, catering and prepared meals from this location.”

Annie said she would have a similar menu to the previous owners and, as good news for those looking for an afternoon pick-me-up, she said she would be open after breakfast and even on Sunday, which was rare for cafes in the area.

Butterfly painting is located at 449a Pulteney Street, Adelaide 5000.
