Plans to open a new wine bar in Silloth, creating four jobs, have been revealed.
Sui Generis would open in premises once run as a confectionery on Criffel Street.
An application has been submitted to Allerdale Council to change the use of the building.
The owners plan to include a seating area on the street outside and the change of use application includes permission to serve food in the bar. This would create two full-time jobs and two part-time positions.
Agent Phoenix Architects said: “The use as a bar with kerbside seating areas appears entirely within the existing character of the main facade and is a valuable addition providing much needed vitality to the town’s tourist offering.”
Criffel Street overlooks the Green, Playground and Town Beach.
There will be minimal changes to the appearance of the store front. Phoenix Architects said: “The facade is rendered and beautifully detailed in a neo-classical style which will not be altered.
Allerdale Council has estimated the earliest date it will make a decision on the application is May 12.
