Penticton Match Eatery closes after several staff members tested positive for COVID

Restaurant is doing a big clean up and plans to reopen on September 3

Match Eatery & Public House in Penticton is closed after several employees tested positive for COVID-19.

“Over the weekend, we confirmed that several Match Eatery & Public House employees in Penticton tested positive for Covid-19,” Match Eatery said on social media.

The restaurant, which is attached to the Cascade Casino, will perform a thorough cleaning of all areas and follow instructions from public health officials.

The match will reopen on Friday, September 3. The casino remains open for business and the Summit Bar on the casino floor is also open.

Interior Health (IH) has led British Columbia in COVID cases for the summer.

As of Tuesday, there were 242 new cases and 2,495 active cases in the IH region.

This is by far the highest and nearly double the next highest region, Fraser Health for COVID cases.

Of those diagnosed with COVID, 80% continue to be in people not fully immunized.
