The team behind the mod sushi restaurant Takeshi-san in Holland Village started Ohayo Mama San (no, not that mama-san), a modern Japanese resto-bar located on the ground floor of the [email protected]
The restaurant, which opened in mid-February this year, seats up to 70 people and offers an extensive menu including all-day brunch sets, Japanese tapas, classic rice bowls, ramen , tea sets and much more.
What is on the menu
Among their offers are:
- Four crab and nori tacos (S$20 for 4 pieces)
- Nishoku Tamago Total Satisfaction Brunch (S$34)
- Baked Onion Wagyu Nyonya Rendang Cubes with Japanese Garlic Rice (S$26)
If you want to treat yourself, pre-order the university garden (S$228) which pairs uni with other seafood such as snow crab, shiro ebi, botan ebi and oysters.
They also have sushi rolls with fun names such as the dancing geisha (S$24), which contains both salmon and tuna, as well as Forbidden love (S$24), a rice-free roll full of protein, greens and crunchy tempura pieces.
Fans of tea sets will be happy to know that they have tea sets for two, although there’s no rule that you can’t finish everything yourself.
Choose between Sweet Time Tea Party or Mixed Tea Party Messageswhich can be accompanied by drinks of your choice:
- A TWG tea post (S$38 for two people for the whole tea service),
- Named cocktails Passion Mimosa (S$58 for two people for the whole tea set),
- Or a carafe of Homemade sake (S$65 for two people for the tea set).
The sets are available from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. every day.
It’s never too early for alcohol
The days when you really want a drink before the typical happy hours, Ohayo Mama San has also extended the truly happy hours (11am-8pm Monday-Saturday and all day Sunday).
Beers start from S$8 a pint and glasses of homemade sake from S$10.
They also have a selection of cocktails such as the Ruby Rose and Lady Butterfly which cost S$12 each during happy hour.
