Long Street restaurant infuses CBD throughout its menu

Pippa Hudson chats with a director of Infusion on Long and a leader of non-psychoactive CBD that can lead to feelings of well-being.

  • Infusion on Long in Cape Town weaves CBD into every food and drink on its menu
  • CBD is the non-psychoactive part of the cannabis plant and can lead to feelings of well-being and calm.
  • Restaurant adheres to legal limits and only adds up to 20 mg of CBD to each beverage dish in either water soluble or oil soluble form

Long infusion describes itself as a ‘Mediterranean style menu with worldly fusion undertones. All menu items are infused with CBD, offering a whole new dining experience. ‘

Since the loosening of laws regarding the growing and personal use of marijuana, there has been a boom in CBD complementary medicines, foods, drinks, and even skin care products, Pippa explains.

It’s the non-psychoactive part of the marijuana plant, for those who might be confused, a chemical that won’t get you high but can contribute to feelings of relaxation, calm, and well-being.

It has been used for thousands of years by traditional healers and is now perfectly legal as long as you stick to the maximum dose of 20 mg per day, she adds.

If you want to try it for yourself, Pippa says, now you have a new way of doing it, as a new restaurant opened on Long Street in April that incorporates CBD into everything it does.

It’s called Infusion on Long and I had the pleasure of dining there just before the restaurants closed under level 4 regulations. Not only did I have a fabulous meal, but I have to say I slept like a baby that night.

Hopefully when they reopen after the lockdown levels are lifted, you’ll give it a try, she said.

The restaurant incorporates CBD in food and drink, but no more than 20 mg per dish.

Pippa chats with one of the restaurant managers Chrystelle Scheepers and one of the chefs, Gershwin Jacobs.

Chrystelle says the restaurant is using the two week lockdown to improve the skills of our staff and make some small improvements to our restaurant.

Our owners are extremely passionate about the cannabis industry.
