James Corden is now banned from Balthazar in New York after ‘profusely apologizing’, owner says

Great James Cordon Balthazar’s shock has been crushed.

Keith McNally, the owner of New York restaurant hotspot Balthazar, shared on social media that the host of The late show called him and “profusely apologized” after McNally earlier announced that Corden had been banned from the restaurant for “abusive” behavior.

EW has reached out to representatives for Corden to comment on the situation.

“James Corden just called me and apologized profusely. Having screwed myself over more than most people, I’m a firm believer in second chances,” McNally wrote in an Instagram post Monday night. “Anyone magnanimous enough to apologize to a slacker like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere. Especially Balthazar,” he added. “So come back to 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is forgiven. xx.”

This may be the briefest ban in New York restaurant history.

McNally originally posted on Instagram on Monday, calling Corden “a little moron of a man” and “the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.”

“I don’t often have 86 clients, today I have 86 Corden,” her post read. “It didn’t make me laugh.”

McNally shared two examples from his staff reports. McNally claimed in a case in June that Corden found a hair in his meal and got “extremely mean” to the manager. McNally said Corden replied, “Give us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all our drinks so far. That way I’m writing nasty reviews yelping or something .”

The owner mentioned another incident in October when Corden and his wife were allegedly there for brunch.

“Mr. Corden’s wife ordered an egg yolk omelet with Gruyere cheese and salad,” McNally wrote. “A few minutes after receiving the food, James called their server, MK and told him that there was a bit of egg white mixed in with the egg yolk. MK informed the floor manager, G The kitchen redid the dish but unfortunately sent it with home fries instead of salad. It was then that James Corden started shouting madly at the waiter, “You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and make the omelet myself!” MK excused himself and brought G. to the table. He returned the dish, and after that everything was fine.

McNally said separately Page 6 he was “reluctant” to publicize the situation but “did it out of loyalty to restaurant servers everywhere”.

“Their job is hard enough,” he said. “They shouldn’t have to go through this kind of abuse from anyone, especially the rich and famous.”
