Downtown Shreveport gets two new restaurants

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – There are new developments in downtown Shreveport!

Pop N’ Pizza isn’t new to Shreveport, but they’re new to downtown. They moved from their location on Kings Highway to the corner of Texas Street.

“When we first bought Pop N’ Pizza I always wanted to be downtown and it got to the point where we were breaking the seams of our old building and needed a bigger place. That happened to be the place that was open,” said Brittani Shabazz, co-owner of Pop N’ Pizza.

Cookie B’s Smoothies and More is across the street from the pizzeria and is scheduled to open on Monday, February 7.

“At the start, we’re going to have smoothies, Frappes and refreshments. We’re going to gravitate to loaded teas and eventually ‘and more’ we’ll probably start selling all-natural soaps, lotions and hair care products,” said Sierra Baker, co-owner of Cookie B’s Smoothies and More.

Both businesses are owned by both blacks and women.

“It’s very exciting, we have two brand new black women-owned businesses in downtown Shreveport on historic Texas Street. Downtown is nothing if not diverse. We have men, women, of all colors, of all ages. We try to be welcoming to everyone because in order for us to be successful, dynamic and exciting, we have to be the place where everyone wants to come and do everything; live, play, eat,” said Liz Swaine, executive director of Shreveport Downtown Development.
