Clemson’s Iconic Theater Gets a Second Life as a Restaurant with Help from Dabo Swinney | Greenville Company

CLEMSON – The former Astro Theater in Clemson has new lettering on its bright red canopy: Walk-On’s.

A sign of Upcoming Louisiana style meals, the font seems to differ slightly from the standard lettering of the channel’s branding “sports bistreaux”. In a nod to the building’s history, it seems to favor the shape of the lettering that previously adorned the faded red cladding.

Clemson University head football coach Dabo Swinney is one of the restaurant’s newest franchisees in a multi-restaurant deal across the Carolinas, nearly coming full circle from his days as a as a passing footballer with a restaurant where his team will be celebrated on autumn weekends.

I’m thrilled to join the Walk-On team and help bring that flavor and that Louisiana hospitality to more markets across the Carolinas.

The menu features a variety of seafood, Cajun cuisine, burgers and donuts served in a family atmosphere.

The company has restaurants in Myrtle Beach and Wilmington, North Carolina, and menus vary slightly from location to location. The group bringing Walk-On’s to Clemson intends to announce additional locations in the Carolinas, according to the statement.

The Walk-On site lists Greenville and Columbia as cities with upcoming restaurants.

“With a two-time national championship head coach, a developer with years of experience building restaurants, and a franchise operator with several Walk-Ons already in business joining forces, I’d call it the team. dream,” said Landry, Founder and CEO. of Walk-On. “We’re excited to see the brand expand into the Carolinas and bring more of the taste of Louisiana to the East Coast.”
