Noida: Gautam Budh Nagar Police have registered cross complaints after an altercation broke out between a Noida resident and the owner of a restaurant in Sector 29 on Friday night over the food bill and catering service , officials said on Saturday.
According to the police, the incident took place at the Punjabi Association Club restaurant where Ranveer Rawal, a resident of Sector 137 had come to dine. After receiving the bill, he argued with the restaurant owner, Pankaj Sharma.
“After eating, Rawal complained to Sharma that the restaurant service was not good. He also requested a reduction on the bill of Rs 9,000,” said Ranvijay Singh, Additional DCP.
The officer added that according to Rawal’s complaint, the matter escalated and the restaurant owner misbehaved and beat him. He filed a complaint against the owner at the Sector 20 Police Station, following which the owner also filed a complaint at the Police Station against Rawal.
“Sharma alleged that Rawal forcibly asked for a reduction on the bill and if refused, he misbehaved with him and the restaurant staff. FIRs were filed against each party,” Singh said .
He further mentioned that Rawal and Sharma were sentenced under Sections 323 (punishment for willfully causing injury), 504 (insult intended to cause breach of peace) and 427 (mischief causing damage in the amount fifty rupees or more) of the Indian Penal Code (ICC).
“We are checking CCTV footage from the restaurant and verifying the claims made by the two. The issue is being studied from all angles,” he said.
